cant stop crying

I lost my Dad on Aug 6/05 to a drunk driver. My Dad was 77 and was full of life. he drove all over Canada and the US just for fun. I miss him so much. I cry so much I cant even go to work at this time. People tell me it will get easier with but for me it is not. My family is getting on with their lives. I wish i could too.

Thanks for reading this
Wendy

Re: cant stop crying

Hi Wendy -

Welcome to this web site. I believe just reaching out is going to make things a little easier for you. You know, it has only been about 6 weeks. Everybody grieves their own way at their own pace. It may seem like your family is getting on with their lives more quickly than you are, but they are just dealing with it differently than you. You obviously had a very special Dad - full of life at 77. I bet he led a great life and I hope he left you with lots of wonderful memories. I truly believe his spirit lives on through you and your family - and in many instances, a death of a parent helps bring us closer with our siblings.

Since his death was sudden, and you didn't have any time to prepare for this, don't forget that you are dealing with a major shock as well as his death in general. It is so okay to cry - important in fact. I believe crying is such an important part of your healing process. Time does make the pain easier to bear, and I empower you to know that he knew how much he meant to you. In fact, he was a lucky man to have a daughter that cared so much.

Please come back to Lostaparent and check in from time to time to let us know how you are doing.

Best wishes,
Barry
